Walking is not only a free activity in this baroque town; it's essential. The old town is pedestrian only and also happens to be where most of the tourist sights are found. The Residenzplatz is a good place to start. Look for the horse fountain. Then, veer south towards the bronze doors of the Dom, Cathedral. The courtyard of St Peterskirche is another sight to see for free as are the gardens of Mirabell Palace. Tulips, crocuses and Greek statues provide economical eye-candy for all.
