Located near the Notting Hill Market on Portobello Road, the Hostel 639 is a big place with plenty of beds and facilities. Dorms accommodate six to eight guests and can be booked as mixed or male- or female-only. Private rooms are also available. 639 runs a bar and restaurant as well as a coffee shop. There’s also a TV lounge and communal kitchens. No curfew.

This was a bad experience, they just let children run up and down the corridors yelling. The place smelt like really bad foot odour, probably cause they where washing the floors with black dirty water. The rooms didn't get cleaned every day, eventually had to take rubbish out myself on more than one occassion. The staff where yelling at each other. Not so very friendly staff, 'Don't just sit around the coffee shop get off your butt's and do some work'

Not a bad hostel. It was quirky, and it isn't in the greatest neighborhood, but it is still in Zones 1-2, making it easy to get into London. I met some good people there.

About the Hostel 639 neighborhood

Kensington is one of London’s poshest neighborhoods, with wealthy residences lining the perfectly paved streets. Leafy gardens and Kensington Palace (Princess Diana’s former home) add to Kensington’s grandeur. The area is home to high-end boutiques and dining, and is not exactly known for its budget accommodation options.
