With a prime location just off of the partially-filled Damrak canal in Amsterdam’s Red Light District (hey, the sex museum is right down the street!), the Hostel Continental Centre is a good place to lay down your backpack.
33 rooms are comprised of basic dorms and private twins, triples and quads. Most are outfitted with bunk beds and each room is equipped with a plasma TV and telephone. Bathrooms are either en suite or shared. If shared, guests still have a wash basin.
The hostel offers on-site washing machines, gives free city tours and doesn’t impose a curfew.There’s a 24-hour reception desk.

The most touristy section of town, the Old Center is home to the Dam Square, the Royal Palace, and the Niewmarkt. In addition to the photo-op attractions, marijuana-peddling "coffee shops" and endless crowds give the neighborhood an energetic, chaotic vibe.
