The Basics: A Venice Museum email this page
With a supreme location right on Venice’s Grand Canal, A Venice Museum is a top pick for hostellers wanting to remain in the middle of the action, save money and experience the city’s old world charm. The building, once a palace owned by the Morisini family, played home to four Venetian doges (circa 1200 a.d.)!
Rooms and common spaces are accentuated by high ceilings, well preserved stuccoed walls and large windows that overlook the canal. Eight-bed mixed dorms are the norm here, but guests can also book private double rooms. All dorms are equipped with an en suite bathroom; private doubles share facilities. Pillows and blankets are provided, but breakfast and linens are not included in the nightly rate, so bring along your own sheets or a sleeping bag and save the extra €5.
The hostel has free Internet access and its own laundry machines plus a common room. While there isn’t an age maximum here, the hostel cautions guests over 40 who might want a bit more peace and quiet to look elsewhere.

About the A Venice Museum neighborhood
San Marco is the touristy heart of Venice. Main attractions, including the Piazza San Marco and Saint Mark’s Basilica, are located in this neighborhood, and the streets are accordingly crowded. Shops and restaurants fill the streets, though things are calmer on the south side of the neighborhood, near the San Stefano church.
