Situated just a few meters (literally!) from St. Peter’s Square and the Vatican in Rome, the Pensione Ottaviano has been providing bunks since 1956. As such, it’s oft-mentioned in guidebooks and well reviewed by recent guests. Sometimes it pays to step back in time and stick with tradition. From cheap beds to a friendly staff, this place seems to know what to do.
Both shared and private rooms are available and all guests receive free Internet access. Linens and the use of in-room storage lockers are also included in the nightly rate. You can expect air conditioning in most rooms too.
There's a TV lounge on-site that’s got DVDs on offer and a library full of maps and tourist books. The Ottaviano doesn’t have a curfew and does have an elevator.

About the Pensione Ottaviano Hostel neighborhood
On the west side of town, the Vatican and Prati area is famous for the gorgeous St. Peter’s Basilica. The Vatican itself, of course, is another neighborhood highlight. The hipper Trastevere district is just to the south.
