Located within a few minutes’ walk of Rome’s famous Trevi fountain, the central Chianti Hostel caters to a youngish crowd (guests must be between the ages of 18 and 35). The staff will even arrange a pasta party if you happen to be here on your birthday!

If you can snag one of the recently renovated rooms here (they go fast in high season), you can bank on free Wi-fi, linens and air conditioning (heating in the winter). Towels can be rented.

There’s an outdoor courtyard and a guest kitchen. Please note that payment is only accepted in cash. And the Chianti enforces a daily "cleaning lockout" between 11 AM and 4 PM.

We booked the Double Private Ensuite, wich means we had our own bathroom and privacy, and it was a cute room too. However, I wouldn't imagine booking a shared room or bathroom. The hosts are very nice, but the hostal is very youth oriented. It met our needs since you don't go to Rome to stay in a room, you just need a place to sleep. The Double Private was a nice room for sleeping. Location: Very near to the center and main attractions. There is no metro passing through the center of Rome so you will have to walk anyways.
